This week has focused largely working with the local tourism industry to build a buzz. After all, what is good for the Ringling is good for local tourism and vice versa. In fact, the Festival could not exist without the SCVB, the BCVB and the local hotels, restaurants and other community support. Yesterday, we met with local hotel sales staff. From boutique hotels to the luxurious Longboat Key Club and Resort, and the Marriott, Sleep Inn, and Hyatt Place in-between accomodations, there are special packages to the RIAF. Whether you are looking to travel to Florida in October (it is an exceptionally beautiful time of year), or simply want to leave laundry and cooking behind and getaway in your own backyard, there is something for everyone. Don’t resist the temptation to book your package now – vacations, or staycations, are always a good thing. Just look at our neighbors across the pond – they are packing up now for their legendary month-long holiday during the summer.

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009Reaching the International Traveler
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009This week representatives from the local Convention & Visitor Bureaus for Sarasota and Manatee Counties are promoting the Festival in Miami at the U.S. Travel Association’s International POW WOW. This trade show is the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and attracts worldwide tourists to the U.S. for the upcoming year. These meetings will result in the generation of more than $.3.5 billion in future travel business to the U.S.
International POW WOW is also an opportunity for unique news coverage for USA travel destinations and products including the Ringling International Arts Festival.
While the competition is tough, we are confident that the internationally-recognized artists scheduled to participate in the Festival will appeal to tourists looking for an exceptional destination for arts and culture. We thank our CVB’s for recognizing the value of this incredible Festival.
Get Ready for an Exciting Week
Monday, May 11th, 2009This is the start of an exciting week for the Ringling International Arts Festival! On Friday, we will launch the Festival’s official website AND single tickets go on sale. Mid-week Ringling Museum and Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau (SCVB) public relations representatives will go on media missions to Orlando and Tampa to promote the Festival.
The new website is a piece of visual art in its own right and it is functional too. Some highlights include the ability to purchase tickets on-line from the comfort of your own home; access to artist’s bios, performance schedules and area information on Sarasota and Manatee counties. We must thank GravityFree, our fearless website company for guiding us, nudging us, or basically just launching us into full-gear.
Be sure to subscribe to the website to receive all the latest blogs and festival announcements.
